Checking in

November 10th, 2008

I went to Mimi’s restaurant yesterday for a delicious Sunday lunch. My friend and I sat at the table talking shop, enjoying a lazy weekend.

We sipped our waters while looking over the menu. The waitress took our orders. When she returned with our starter-salads, she promptly asked, “How does everything taste?”

My friend and I eyed our waters. Then our just-delivered food. Then each other, and finally the waitress. By the time our eyes met hers, she realized her faux pas. We all smiled it off and she told us to enjoy our meal.

Our waitress asked a valid question, but the timing was off. She was clearly running on autopilot. You see, that’s what the Moment of Peace is all about. About Awareness, and being fully present. The more often we ground ourselves, the better chance we have to live more richly, more abundantly.

When we just coast through life on autopilot, we miss out on so much. Not just events, but the experience itself. The reason for being here. Just a reminder to “check in”, as often as you can, and to really be… here… now.

The daily reminders have been helpful. Thanks! I especially like that I can customize them. Thanks again for the service.
