I dream of bread…
Dreams are an important part of our lives. Considering we spend a third of our life sleeping, what happens during that time (dreaming), should not be underestimated. Many aboriginal cultures–present and past–have considered the dream world to be just as real as the conscious world.
I truly believe that while dreaming we tune into our subconscious and unconscious minds, but it’s also a place where we can more readily tap into the energy which binds us with all creation.
That said, I want to share an invaluable resource I’ve used over the years. It is a dream dictionary at www.dreammoods.com.
Dreams can be difficult to understand or interpret. But this dictionary has really helped me to understand mine. Whever I read the definitions of certain symbols, this dictionary has been almost unfailingly spot on. (There have only been 2 times when the definition didn’t seem to apply).
The dream I had last night is what made me think about posting this here. In the dream I went into the kitchen to make breakfast, and there was bread everywhere! Many packages of different kinds of bread had been opened & spread all over the counters. Such a mess. But it was my subconscious’s way (and the Universe, in this case) of getting me to pay attention, and to remember the bread when I woke up.
The Dream Moods dictionary has this to say about bread:
Bread: To see bread in your dream, represents the basic needs of life. Bread may signify the positive qualities and great things you have learned on your journey of life. Alternatively, it suggests that you need to rise above the situation or rise for the occasion.
Every one of these sentences applies to me personally, but these things apply to us all:
- In this time of global recession, people seem to dwell in fear of the future. I disagree with this mentality. I think there is plenty, and more than enough to be had by all. In other words, there is bread, bread everywhere! All different kinds of bread for us to share, and enjoy in the company of our fellow human beings. Set aside fear. If you let fear rule your thoughts and decisions, you will only create more fear.
- When we live in a feeling of fear, or lack, we forget to point out the positive. We forget all the wonderful things there are around us, and to be thankful. In this state of mind, we are not tuned into the opportunities around us, and let them slip by. Instead, let us remember that there is abundance always at our fingertips. Be in a mindset to see and make use of those opportunities. Sometimes it takes concerted effort to believe, no matter what, there is enough Good to go around. But this is the only way we can make the world a better place.
- The Universe (God, however you relate to Deity or the connection between all things) is constantly calling us. It is our opportunity to rise up to the situation before us. We can’t do this when we’re complaining, in a victim mentality, sad or depressed, or spending our time wishing things were different. We CAN do this by asking what is needed of us, what it is we have to offer the situation at hand. We CAN do this by having an attitude of gratitude. We CAN do this by listening to our hearts, and being actively engaged in a good cause. We CAN do this by taking on each day as an adventure, by choosing to enjoy a good challenge. Who knows, we may even find new talents, abilities, or newly awakened passion for life.
One thing is for sure, there will be bumps, bruises, breaks and even death along this treacherous road of life. These things will find us whether we hide from them (try to hide, that is), or whether we take them on full force. What I’ve found is, when I’ve met challenges head on, things tend to turn out better than what I feared, and my life was exponentially the better for it.
A wise man once asked: “In an endless Universe of infinite possibilities… will you really create today the same as yesterday?”
